James Edielu oluka

James, a visionary leader and the founder of Ateker Museum and the Ateker Youth Heritage Hub, has devoted his life to preserving and promoting Africa’s rich cultural heritage. For him, this is not merely a career but a passionate mission to ensure that the vibrant narratives of African heritage are cherished and handed down to future generations.

With an impressive portfolio, James has served in pivotal roles such as Director of Library at the University of Gitwe, Manager of the Uganda Railway Museum, and General Secretary of the Uganda Community Museums Association. His contributions extend to the global stage, where he has influenced cultural policy through collaborations with entities like UNESCO.

Drawing on nearly a decade of experience in the culture and creative industry, James embarked on a groundbreaking initiative: the establishment of Ateker Museum. Recognizing the lack of an entity dedicated to safeguarding the heritage of the Ateker peoples, he created this museum to fill the void and uphold their cultural legacy. One of James’s driving motivations was bridging the growing disconnect between Ateker youth and their heritage—a challenge he believes the museum is uniquely positioned to address. Through this platform, he aims to inspire a deep appreciation for identity, history, and cultural pride among future generations.
